Governance

The Gerontological Society of America's Council, which is headed by the Executive Committee, is the organization's chief governing body. It consists of elected officials from various branches of the Society as well as key staff representatives.

GSA's bylaws are its chief operating document.

The role of the Executive Committee and Council is to provide guidance for the organization and to provide fiduciary oversight to protect its business property. To this end, many committees and task forces have been established to oversee individual aspects of governance.

They are guided by a strategic plan that was developed to advance research, education, and practice in the field of aging.
