The Gerontological Society of America Releases Audios from San Francisco Meeting

Audio recordings from hundreds of presentations at the 60th Annual Scientific Meeting of The Gerontological Society of America are now available at a cost of $15 per session. Nearly 4,000 professionals in the field of aging attended the four-day gathering in San Francisco from November 16th - 20th.

Audio CDs can be purchased by following this link: http://www.dcporder.com/gsa. A complete package of all available sessions is available for $199. Additionally, MP3 versions will shortly be available at http://www.dcprovidersonline.com/gsa/. When possible, supporting documents such as handouts will be included. The presentation abstracts can be found by searching the conference program here: http://www.agingconference.com/conference_program.cfm.

The recordings from the conference's two press briefings can be downloaded free of charge here: http://www.dcprovidersonline.com/gsa/?event_id=GSA2.

Hear the International Longevity Center's Dr. Robert Butler, the meeting's Pulitzer Prize-winning keynote speaker, answer questions about his address on The Seven Continents: Preparing for Longevity and the Triumph of Survival. Butler is a leading gerontology expert and was the first director of the National Institute on Aging.

Listen to Dr. Elizabeth Zelinski of the University of Southern California (USC) as she discusses the IMPACT Study, the largest study on aging and cognitive training to use available products (i.e., the Posit Science Brain Fitness Program). This prospective, randomized, controlled trial (led by USC and the Mayo Clinic) determined for the first time whether computer-based training designed by neuroscientists can cause gains that generalize to broad measures of cognition and that are noticeable in every day life. Zelinski's findings were initially reported in a poster on The IMPACT Study: Randomized Controlled Trial of a Brain Plasticity-Based Training Program for Age-Related Cognitive Decline, which is also available for download.
