2009–2010 AGHE Fellows Selected
The Association for Gerontology in Higher Education (AGHE), the educational branch of The Gerontological Society of America, is pleased to announce its 2009–2010 fellows in gerontology and geriatrics education.
AGHE fellow status is an honor that recognizes outstanding leadership in gerontology and geriatrics education by established scholars and educators. This distinction is open to individuals with who are employed by an AGHE member institution.
Qualifications include noteworthy achievement in teaching, scholarship, and research on educational issues; influential research publications or theoretical contributions used in gerontology and geriatrics education and training; or leadership in administration and funding of gerontology and geriatrics educational programs, including development of new programs.
The newest fellows are as follows:
Betty D. Dodson, PhD, University of Nevada, Reno
Michael Faber, MA, LBSW, Grand Rapids Community College
Barbara Hawkins, ReD, Indiana University
Cullen T. Hayashida, PhD, Kapi’olani Community College
Jon Pynoos, PhD, University of Southern California
Kathleen H. Wilber, PhD, University of Southern California
The AGHE Fellow Selection Committee, composed of seven current fellows, reviewed the applications and made candidate recommendations, which were then approved by the AGHE Executive Committee.
Applications for the next group of fellows will be due October 17, 2010. Forms are sent to AGHE's institutional representatives each spring and may also be obtained online at www.aghe.org.

The Association for Gerontology in Higher Education (AGHE) is the educational branch of The Gerontological Society of America, the nation's oldest and largest interdisciplinary organization devoted to research, education, and practice in the field of aging. AGHE seeks to advance gerontology as a field of study at institutions of higher education through conferences, publications, technical assistance, research studies, and consultation with policy makers. It is currently the only institutional member organization dedicated to gerontology and geriatrics education worldwide.
