Statement of Purpose

As our population ages, the need for medical training in areas of geriatric orthopaedic trauma becomes paramount. The purpose of this program is to update the medical healthcare team on issues associated with the geriatric fracture patient by providing relevant, evidence-based talks, panel discussions, and workshops on clinically important topics that relate to all core competencies, including:

  • New knowledge and skills through lectures and workshops
  • Review of key areas of clinical practice
  • Discussion of issues relevant to the field

Audience

This conference would be ideal for orthopaedic surgeons, primary care physicians, geriatricians, hospitalists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, physical therapists and those who have an interest in the care of the geriatric fracture patient.

 

Educational Objectives

Following this conference, participants should be able to:

  • Comprehend challenges and solutions regarding distal radius fractures, hip fractures, and other fragility fractures
  • Describe latest techniques and tools available for fixing fractures in the geriatric patient
  • Define ways that bone health can be determined and fortified in the geriatric orthopaedic trauma patient
