Pre-Conference Workshop: GSA Mentoring and Career Development Technical Assistance

This unique Mentoring and Career Development Technical Assistance Workshop program is tailored to suit the needs of trainees from diverse backgrounds. This exceptional educational and career development opportunity supports professional training and growth among GSA early career members. The workshop content was designed to provide trainees with diverse professional experiences and specialized gerontological education and mentoring related to career development. This workshop has the goal to empower trainees for successful career development and strategic planning. Comprehensive information related to career development, mentoring, and professional networks will be discussed with the goal to produce a successful and empowered diverse workforce to contribute to the future of aging research.

The ESPO Lounge at the Annual Scientific Meeting provides a place for GSA’s emerging scholars to rest from the hectic conference pace, network with fellow ESPO members, meet with colleagues, enjoy refreshments, and check e‐mail on the computers provided in the lounge. Back by popular demand are ESPO's Informal Chats! ESPO will again host several informal chats focused on academic jobs, dissertations and writing, Butler Williams Scholars, international scholars and interests, and lifelong learning. Please stop by!

ESPO Breakfast and Community Meeting
Thursday, November 15  •  7 to 8 am
All ESPO members are welcome and encouraged to attend this informational breakfast meeting, which will provide an opportunity to review the year’s activities, honor ESPO volunteer leaders, recognize ESPO award recipients*, transition ESPO chairs, and participate in breakout tables. This is a great way to learn about how to get involved in ESPO leadership, meet your elected leaders, network with colleagues, support research by fellow ESPO members, and engage in discussions tailored to your current stage and needs as an emerging scholar.

*ESPO Interdisciplinary Paper Award, ESPO Poster Awards, and student travel stipend.

ESPO Wine and Cheese Networking Reception
Friday, November 16  •  6:30 to 8:00 pm
What's better than wine and cheese at the end of a conference day? Networking with wine and cheese! Connect. Collaborate. Chill. We invite all ESPO members to join us to meet with ESPO Presidential Symposium panelists, ESPO leaders,ESPO members, and GSA fellows at a relaxed yet engaging reception.  Coming solo? No problem! You are guaranteed to meet new peers and potential mentors through a few rounds of Speed Networking. Bring your business cards and walk away with new contacts and enthusiasm for connections and future potential collaborations. Note: The ESPO Wine & Cheese Reception will directly follow the ESPO Presidential Symposium. Attendance at both is encouraged but not required.
