The Minority Issues in Gerontology Committee offers a Poster Award to recognize GSA Student and Early Career members from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups for original and innovative research.
Submission Period: June 9 - July 28, 2026
Eligibility Criteria:
    The applicant must be:
    - A Student or Early Career member of GSA without a doctoral degree at the time of abstract submission. 
 
    - member of an underrepresented race group (Black/African American, Hispanic/Latino, Native American/Pacific Islander, Asian). 
 
    - The first author of the submitted work. 
 
    The applicant must:
    - Submit and have his/her abstract accepted for the Annual Scientific Meeting. 
 
    - Present at the Annual Scientific Meeting. 
 
    - Submit a PowerPoint or PDF version of their poster (2 copies - one blinded).
 
    - Include a statement from a mentor or advisor verifying that the work is primarily the student's.
 
    Review Criteria:
    - Overall contribution to aging research 
 
    - Originality 
 
    - Theoretical framework and rationale 
 
    - Methods 
 
    - Discussion 
 
    - Clarity
 
Self-Nomination Process
In order to apply for the award, you will need to submit two copies of your paper (one blinded, one not), abstract control ID number, and required co-author(s) statement.
Nature of the Award
The recipients each a receive a certificate, and will be recognized at the Minority Issues in Gerontology Award Presentation and Reception at the Annual Scientific Meeting.
