Register for October 28 Advocacy Webinar: Learn How to Speak Up for Aging Research

In my last blog, I shared that GSA became a partner on the new Americans for Medical Research campaign to educate policymakers and the public about the vital role played by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in funding scientific research. Now, GSA members are invited to the campaign’s first virtual training session focused on communicating the value of medical research.
I encourage you to RSVP and attend the webinar on October 28 from 12 to 1 p.m. ET, which will cover writing and publishing a letter to the editor, crafting an effective op-ed, producing social media posts, and other best practices for sharing with the public the vital role of research and the role you play. Whether you're new to communications and outreach or looking to sharpen your skills, this is a great chance to learn and make your voice heard. The agenda also includes a Q&A period.
This non-partisan campaign is led by Research!America, which completed extensive public opinion research to inform the development of compelling ads, messages and talking points. The campaign has already started running ads inside the Washington, DC, Beltway.
I invite you to sign up for updates on the campaign website. You’ll receive notices about future trainings and calls to action for sending op-eds or letters to the editor of your local papers or letters to your member of Congress.
