GSA hosts Careers in Aging Week every year to raise awareness about the diverse careers availale in the field of aging.

People are living longer and populations are aging worldwide. The demand for professionals with expertise in aging is growing rapidly. Careers in Aging Week (CIAW) is observed every year by businesses, clinics, coalitions, organizations, universities, colleges, and other parties across the world. The goal of CIAW is to bring greater awareness and visibility to the wide-ranging career opportunities in the field of aging.

Selfie Contest: The goal of the contest is for participants to become one of the Real Faces of Careers in Aging by posting their selfie to Facebook or Twitter. Each participant will be entered into the raffle to win a free registration to the GSA 2020 Annual Scientific Meeting in Philadelphia. Each social media post is an entry into the raffle.

Complete all 3 steps to enter the raffle:

  • Snap a photo of yourself 
  • Post your photo on Twitter or Facebook during Careers in Aging Week (April 19-25). Include a description of your career in aging.
  • Tag @geronsociety and use #CareersInAging in your post.


  1. Make sure each post has different content. GSA discourages people from posting the same post multiple times.
  2. GSA discourages creating multiple accounts for the purposes of this contest.
  3. Consider answering some of these questions in your post to show your pride for the field of aging.
    • Tell us something about your career that makes you feel especially proud.
    • What is one thing most people might not know about aging services?
    • What is the number one thing you look forward to every day at work?
    • Do you have any tips for individuals considering entering the field of aging?
    • What is your most memorable/rewarding research/patient experience?
    • What are your motivations/inspirations for being in a career in aging?
