Emerging Scholar and Professional Organization

Since 1960, GSA's Emerging Scholar and Professional Organization (ESPO) has provided students with opportunities to be actively involved in the field of gerontology. Over the years, ESPO leadership has played a vital role in the development of student programs and activities. They have stimulated the development of awards and established mentorship programs to link students with seasoned professionals.

ESPO launched the Campus Ambassador Program in 1995 to establish professional and social networks for promoting gerontology at colleges and universities nationwide. This led to the now-titled GSA Ambassador Program that enables ambassadors to be vital links between those interested in the field of aging and GSA.

ESPO members — who make up about one-quarter of GSA — enjoy full Society membership benefits and privileges at significant discounts. When you become a student or transitional member of GSA, you automatically become an ESPO member! Want to get involved in ESPO? E-mail us at This email address is being protected from spambots.
