KAER framework and toolkits are GSA’s flagship practice innovation initiatives, which continue to evolve to stay current with the latest science and practice guidelines.


The GSA KAER Toolkit for Brain Health helps primary care teams to improve brain health, cognitive impairment detection, and dementia care by integrating the GSA Kickstart, Assess, Evaluate, Refer—KAER—framework. The toolkit gives provider teams tools and resources to engage in conversations about brain health, improve early detection and diagnosis of cognitive impairment or dementia, and connect people to community resources.



A companion to The GSA KAER Brain Health Toolkit, Addressing Brain Health in Adults with Intellectual Disabilities and Developmental Disabilities, supports early detection and diagnosis of cognitive impairment or dementia, as well as connection to community resources for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.



The GSA KAER Toolkit for the Management of Obesity in Older Adults is strengthening obesity care for older adults by promoting age-inclusive, evidence-based strategies that support healthy weight management and mitigate related health risks utilizing the KAER framework.

Recognizing and Addressing Ageism in Health Care is an initiative that includes a comprehensive suite of resources designed to help health care providers recognize and address ageism across a variety of health care settings, including an educational resource for health profession students.

Championing vaccination uptake across the lifespan  through the Concentric Value of Vaccination Framework, emphasizing the personal, societal, and economic value of vaccinations across the lifespan.

Supporting longevity and healthy aging by highlighting The Longevity Impact of lifelong learning, social engagement, physical and mental health, and financial wellness.
